Camden County, Tallahassee Lincoln agree to series

– Dallas Jackson, NationalHSFootball.com

In an interesting two-year deal, Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln has agreed to travel to play Kingsland (Ga.) Camden County in 2014 and 2015.

Sources close to the negotiations have told NationalHSFootball.com that the contracts are in the hand of Lincoln and just need final approval for the games to be completed.

The 2014 contest will be played at a neutral site while the 2015 game will be played at the host site.

Both teams had been ranked in the HSFB100 this year and each are considered nationally relevant.

Lincoln has played six games with Camden County regional foe Valdosta (Ga.) High in recent years but that contract ended two seasons ago. The Trojans have also played Snellville (Ga.) South Gwinnett, Daphne (Ala.) High, and Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes in out-of-state games this decade.

The team won a state championship in 2010 and has looked to travel each year under head coach Yusif Shakir who has told NationalHSFootball.com in the past that he likes hostile environments to help build his teams toughness.

Camden County has taken on nationally relevant programs like Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville, Miami (Fla.) Central, Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast, Lake City (Fla.) Columbia, Hoover (Ala.) High, and Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas in recent years.

The team won a state championships under former head coach Jeff Herron and was 10-2 in the first year under new coach Welton Coffey. Coffey was named the Region 1 Coach of the Year this year.

Good job reporting DJ. Bellevue is likely traveling to SoCal to play Serra-Gardena.

Bellevue is in talks with several teams. That will not be a good game.

This is the best Serra team for the next few years. Bellevue is a machine right now.

Any idea where the neutral site game will be played?

It may become part of a larger event but it is not certain.

The contract is that Lincoln will travel though. Both games may end up being at Camden if nothing else comes together, say, in Jacksonville with a couple other teams involved. Wink, wink.

Gotcha, I am glad to see we are stepping up the competition a little on the out of region games. That leaves 4 more games to fill for next season.
