Indiana Class 6A playoff bracket announced

The Indiana High School Athletic Association announced its playoff brackets for the 42nd Annual IHSAA Football State Tournament presented by the Indianapolis Colts.

For the second year, Class 6A will be used for the 32 largest schools in the state. The teams are broken into eight sectionals consisting of four teams each, sectional semifinal games will be played on Oct. 24, sectional championships are on Oct. 31; regional-round games are scheduled for Nov. 7 and semi-states on Nov. 14. Teams that have played into the state championships will have a week off before playing in the finals the weekend of Thanksgiving, Nov. 28.

The IHSAA allowed all of its teams to enter the playoffs and does not use a traditional seeding process, rather ping-pong ball representing each school in the section are placed into a lottery-style air machine. A fan inside the machine mixes the balls inside the device until one is forced up a tube in random order which determines the placement of each team in the bracket. The first ball to come through the tube is the visiting team in game one with the second ball being the home team. The third and fourth are placed in the brackets based on the same methodology. This formula repeats through every section and all classes.

The only teams in Indiana in contention for HSFB100 inclusion this season are from Class 6A and that tournament bracket is listed below.
