For the first time all season there was not a single team moved out of the rankings from the previous week as the only changes were moderate shuffling of teams throughout the six polls.

The six major polls considered are the NationalHSFootball.com HSFB100; Scout.com Top 50; USAToday Super 25; MaxPreps Xcellent25; PrepNation Top 25; and Freeman Computer Top 25.

For a mathematically sound compilation each team is given points from 40 to 16 for being inside the Top 25 of each of those six polls with no points awarded for any additional rankings due to the differing size of each poll. Points are assigned in decreasing value starting with 40 being awarded for No. 1 and on down to 16 for No. 25.

The biggest upward mover was Folsom (CA).

The Bulldogs went from a tie at No. 11 to No. 6 after the team defeated Grant (Sacrament, CA) in the CIF Division I Regional Bowl, 52-21.

Folsom used an explosion of points in the second and third quarters to turn a 3-0 game after the first frame into a blowout. High school football’s all-time passing leader Jake Browning connected on with Cole Thompson for a touchdown and then caught on himself on a throwback from Josiah Deguara to extend the lead to 17-0. Defensively the Bulldogs stifled the Pacers all evening and forced an interception on a screen pass into a touchdown to close the fisrt half with a commanding lead. Folsom now advances to the state finals against Oceanside (CA).

Dallas Skyline (TX) vacated the No. 6 position for Folsom and fell the furthest this week, dropping to No. 20.

The Raiders lost to No. 2 Allen in the Texas 6A-I semifinals in a closer-than-the-score-indicates, 52-34 battle.

Skyline led 28-10 after a 97-yard pick-six but Allen rebounded to end the contest on a 42-6 run.

Three polls dropped Skyline completely while three kept it ranked, allowing for a soft landing in the Top 25.

In doing so, the Texas powerhouse overtook Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV) for the top spot in the HSFB100 with one week remaining in the season. Now, all that stands in the way of hoisting both trophies is a date with Cy Ranch (Cypress, TX) in the state finals.

The decision to displace a standing No. 1 is a difficult one but with mounting disparity in the schedules between the two it was believed to be the correct call for the next-to-last HSFB100 update.

Bishop Gorman had made its way No. 1 in the Sept. 29 update of the poll after a stretch of games with six out-of-state opponents skyrocketed the teams strength of schedule. As each subsequent week passed that gap closed — with multiple teams making chase — but it was the higher-ranked run that Allen has gone on that was a trump card.

Bishop Gorman downed Brophy (Phoenix, AZ), Servite (Anaheim, CA), Bingham (South Jordan, UT), Centennial (Corona, CA), Santa Margarita (CA), and St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA) in succession. Of those victories Bingham went to win Utah and is currently ranked in the Top 25 of the HSFB100. Corona Centennial and St. John Bosco played for the Pac-5 title where Centennial advanced to take on De La Salle this coming week in the CIF Open Division title; each will end the season in the Top 25 of the rankings. Servite, Brophy, and Santa Margarita were all quality wins which aided in boosting the three HSFB100 victories.

Allen will end the year with six HSFB100 victories and its stretch of games against DeSoto (TX), Arlington Martin (TX), Euless Trinity (TX), and Dallas Skyline will give it four games in a row against Top 40 teams. The addition of Denton Guyer (TX) and South Carolina runners-up Dutch Fork (Irmo, SC) to open the season pushed the total to six ranked wins.

The schedule beyond the top six for each is also better for the Texas program with Cy Ranch, Plano West, McKinney Boyd, Plano, and Flower Mound Marcus are all being better victories than the win by Bishop Gorman over Reed in its state finals with the gap increasing between each Nevada program and the Texas teams it would be compared to.

With every state outside of California and Texas now having concluded its season the moves in the final poll figure to be minimal as only two teams were changed in the bottom of the poll this week.

The Final HSFB100 will be released next week with individual state rankings to follow.

Warren Easton got on the scoreboard in the first quarter on a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown and a 43-yard touchdown pass from Deshawn Capers-Smith to Darren Holmes.

The Acadiana Wreckin’ Rams captured their second consecutive state championship and their fourth crown since 2006 with a 23-7 victory over Destrehan (14-1, No. 28 in HSFB100) in 2014 Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Class 5A State Championship Game Saturday night.

Breaking out to an early 14-0 lead, Acadiana (11-4) got on the scoreboard near the end of the first quarter on a 37-yard touchdown pass from Kevin Moore to Bry’kiethon Mouton. Eric Duhon’s two-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter extended the lead to 14-7.

Brodie Fontenot added field goals of 24 and 31 yards in the third quarter to extend the lead to 20-7.

Going for their first state championship since back-to-back titles in 2007 and 2008, Destrehan saw their undefeated season end with a 14-1 record.

The Wildcats lone score came in the first half on a two-yard touchdown run by Kohen Granier.

Miami Central (13-1, No. 15 HSFB100) won its third consecutive 6A championship.

“We lean on our defense a lot and we knew they were going to have to make a big stop in that situation,” Miami Central coach Roland Smith said. “They have been in that position before and they always come through.”

Central got a 35-yard field goal from Beymar Piraquive to tie the game at 10 with 1:20 remaining in the quarter. In the fourth quarter, Jones and Cedric Miller (12 rushes, 116 yards) took over running exclusively out of the wildcat formation.

Jones rushed for a 21-yard touchdown on a 3rd and 13 to give the Rockets a 17-10 lead with 4:51 remaining. On Armwood’s next series, Johnson was intercepted by Olin Cushon III. Johnson threw for 67 yards and was intercepted twice. The Hawks also lost two fumbles.

“Turnovers did us in,” Armwood coach Sean Callahan said. “We knew we couldn’t make those kinds of mistakes against this team and we did. That was the difference.”

Jones rushed for his final touchdown, a 20-yard run, with 41 seconds left in the game.

“I knew we needed to make plays in the fourth quarter,” Jones said. “That’s what championship teams do. That’s why we’ve been here so many times.”

Chandler Cox rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown to lift Apopka to a 30-23 win against Miami Christopher Columbus in the Florida high school Class 8A championship game on Saturday night.

Apopka (11-4, No. 99 HSFB100) won the 8A title for the second time in three years.

Cox, who is verbally committed to the Auburn Tigers, also went 3-of-5 passing for 67 yards. His 22-yard touchdown pass to James Crider gave the Blue Darters a 30-16 lead with 8:18 remaining in the game.

“It’s really a blessing to be in this spot with this team and winning another state title as a senior,” Cox said. “I really wish this could go on forever.”

Columbus (13-2, No. 42 HSFB100) trailed 14-0 in the first quarter but kept the game close behind strong efforts from quarterback Tucker Beirne and wide receiver Austin Maloney. Beirne was 27 of 47 for 294 yards and three touchdowns while Maloney had eight catches for 111 yards and a touchdown.

Maloney’s 11-yard touchdown catch on fourth-and-goal pulled the Explorers to within 22-16 late in the third quarter.

“We win as a team, we lose as a team,” said Columbus coach Chris Merritt. “We had a few chances and couldn’t get it done.”

Apopka tried to kill the clock in the final minute but Cox was stuffed on a fourth-and-1 at the Columbus 5 with 49 seconds remaining. Beirne, however, could only muster a couple of first downs as time expired.

“It’s a relief that this one ended,” Apopka coach Rick Darlington said. “We did a lot of things well and made a lot of mistakes. I thought we could hold on at the end but they stuffed us and we needed the defense to come through.”

Deshawn Massey rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns for the Blue Darters.

St. Joe needed two clutch defensive stops in the final moments of the game, played at Hersheypark Stadium. Seemingly in control early in the fourth quarter, the Philadelphia Catholic League’s Hawks found themselves fighting to hold off the hard-charging WPIAL champion Rams in the closing minutes.

Olamide Zaccheaus’ interception of Ben DiNucci’s final heave into the end zone officially sealed the Hawks’ triumph, finishing an 11-3 season for Gabe Infante’s club.

A little more than two minutes earlier, after Pine-Richland (15-1, No. 74 HSFB100) had scored to pull within 42-41, linebacker Joe Dumond rushed DiNucci on the two-point pass, forcing a failed conversion that kept St. Joe’s in front.

Sophomore running back De’Andre Swift scored four second-half touchdowns for the Hawks, including a 47-yard sprint with 1:49 left that gave the Rams a fighting chance.

Had Swift stopped short of the end zone, St. Joe’s would have been able to kneel and run out the clock, as the Rams were out of timeouts. Instead, DiNucci, led the Rams down field. They’d reached the Hawks’ 32-yard line when his final pass was picked by Zaccheaus.

Pine-Richland wide receiver Mike Merhaut established a PIAA playoff record with 14 catches for 113 yards.

Anthony Battaglia (8-120) and D’ondre Gastion (6-109) also eclipsed 100 yards receiving in the loss.

St. Joe’s QB Jack Clements threw for 219 yards and three scores.

Pine-Richland was seeking its first PIAA championship in only its second title game; it also dropped the 2003 Class AAA game to Manheim Central in overtime.

The Hawks, who never trailed, seemingly took control when Swift scored two touchdowns in an 18-second span early in the third quarter.

After going into halftime tied 14-14, St. Joe’s struck on Swift’s 58-yard TD run. Then, after his team recovered an accidental onside kick, Swift caught a double-reverse flea flicker from Clements and ran 48 yards for another score.

When Swift scored from 1 yard out with 9:25 left in the game, Pine-Richland found itself in a 42-21 hole.

But DiNucci was just starting to heat up.

“Those guys have no quit in them, so we knew it was going to go down to the wire,” Infante said of the Rams.

DiNucci threw a 4-yard TD pass to Battaglia, then 23- and 31-yard TD passes to Gastion to pull the Rams within a point, 42-41.

Head coach Eric Kasperowicz gambled by going for two after the second Gastion score, but that’s when Dumond chased DiNucci and forced an off-balance throw into the end zone.

“I thought we came here tonight and represented the Western part of the state pretty well,” Kasperowicz said. “We went for two there; it obviously didn’t go our way. But then again we had a shot at the end to win it and came up a little bit short. Nothing but good things to say. That’s a great football team over there.”

Centreville (12-3) was attempting to repeat as state champion and rallied from a 24-14 deficit with two touchdowns in a span of 2:52 during the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats’ Charles Tutt caught an 80-yard touchdown pass from Joe Ferrick to tie it at 24-24 with 1:53 left.

In overtime, Centreville failed to score on its first possession, missing a 26-yard field-goal attempt by Eric Rondeau.

Lewis took a handoff on the first play of Ocean Lakes’ possession and raced around the left end for a touchdown.

Centreville’s AJ Turner, a 5-10, 190-pounder senior who has committed to South Carolina, finished with 132 rushing yards. The Wildcats played without 1,000-yard rusher Taylor Boose, who missed his second straight game with a knee injury.

It was the second state championship for the Packers, who won their other in 1994, and snapped a streak for four consecutive AAAAAA titles by teams like Archer that are from Gwinnett County.

Dylan Singleton had three touchdowns for Archer (12-3, No. 43 HSFB100) and brought the Tigers within four points on a 22-yard run late in the third quarter. But Colquitt was able to run out the clock late to reserve the victory.

Parrish was 17 of 22 passing for 190 yards, his last touchdown a 7-yarder to Qwazavia Lee midway in the third quarter.

Colquitt led 21-17 lead at halftime as King scored from a yard out with 45 seconds left after Archer dropped a pass in the end zone and then missed a 40-yard field goal.

Parrish threw touchdown passes of 40 yards to Marquan Greene and seven yards to King in the first quarter, the second score coming on the first play after Gabe Tiller was intercepted.

Archer had taken the lead when Cole Fisher followed a 55-yard touchdown pass from Tiller to Singleton with a 47-yard field goal.

Singleton scored on a 4-yard run in the first quarter.

Propst won five state titles in Alabama over a nine-year period at Hoover near Birmingham before coming to Colquitt in 2008. His 2010 team lost to Brookwood in the championship game.

Buford won its third straight Georgia High School Association football championship and seventh in eight years, the Wolves stretching their winning streak to 40 games with a 55-10 rout of St. Pius for the Class AAAA title Saturday night in the Georgia Dome.

Brett Shepherd had a 61-yard touchdown run as Buford (15-0, No. 22 HSFB100) scored five times over an eight-minute stretch during the middle of the first half to break the game open after St. Pius (12-3) had taken a 10-0 lead.

Buford had two touchdowns in the first 19 seconds of the second quarter. David Curry returned a punt 40 yards and then Quay Picou ran 10 yards for a score with a fumble.

Aaron Auer caught touchdowns passes of 39 and 60 yards, the first from fellow wide receiver Brandon Marsh and the second from quarterback Luke Humphrey, as Buford completely dominated after the first eight minutes.

St. Pius took advantage of a fumble on the Wolves’ first play for a 26-yard field goal by Mike Matthews and then Dalton Wilson broke a 60-yard touchdown run on a fourth-down gamble.

Buford, though, scored two touchdowns before the end of the first quarter, two more at the start of the second and then another shortly afterwards as Evyn Cooper had an 8-yard run to make it 34-10 at halftime.

Joshua Thomas scored on a 15-yard run and Buford led 48-10 going into the final quarter. The Wolves finished with 417 total yards to 182 for St. Pius.

It was a record eighth straight appearance in the championship game for Buford, which lost to Calhoun in 2011 while in Class AA. The Wolves defeated St. Pius for the Class AAA title in 2012
